TOLD RUSH HE WAS ADOPTED THE OTHER DAY, THIS WAS THE REACTION I GOT FROM HIM.

Now that we're all sort of caught up it's time for what happened the last TWO weeks. I ran the Mapleton 5k this last Wednesday, which I had just gotten over a head cold. I did MUCH better than I though, I ran it barely 25 min. Scott and Rush met me at the finish line (well not when I finished, I ran too fast ;)

Me, Scott, and Rush after the Mapleton 5k

Me, Ma, and Pa after we ran it.

Some may ask -- "Why in front of porta potties?"  I say -- "I don't know"

So I went to the cabin this past weekend, and Scott hiked up Mt. Timpanogas also. That's a lot of pictures that I don't feel like bordering tonight, so I will do that in the next while (week?) HOPEFULLY tomorrow. I do have a story I've been wanting to post about but keep forgetting --        A couple weeks ago, I was in the shower and Scott was trying to keep Rush out of our room (he wasn't quite potty trained yet) Rush new darn good and well he wasn't suppose to be in our room. So typically, he was going to sneak in there. Rush quietly snuck into our room and Scott was right behind him, Rush got into the bathroom and Scott grabbed and and I hear this loud dog cry. I thought Scott had dropped kicked him or something! Anyways, I get out and go ask Scott what happened and he's like -- "I just went behind him and picked him up, he knew he wasn't suppose to be in there so he FREAKED out and pooped on me!" I guess Rush was so scared he got the little squirts.
It was the first, but it sure wasn't the last time he was that scared -- stories to follow...

5ks, Half Marathons, and Doggies

Wow it has been a while since I've posted, Boomer went to his new home 2 weeks ago (I think). His pop got surgery and as soon as he could leave the hospital they came straight over and picked him up. So now it's just Rush and Peaches, we are working on them getting along (as in peachy accepting Rush into the pack) She's still down about Kirby so we can't really foster/adopt as of right now.

Rush was 10 pounds when Boomer left and now he's 17.9 pounds, he's gaining weight so fast and just growing bigger and bigger.

In other news, we ran the Freedom Run 5k in Provo on the fourth of July, I don't know why I have such a hard time on that one, we did it last year and I just get so dehydrated running it! This year is was more humid than usual, but I still got a best time so I can't really complain. Scott, my one sister, one brother, Melanie (sisters friend), Ma, Pa, and I ran the 5k, and my other 2 brothers, 2 sister-in-laws, and the kids ran the 1 mile run/walk.

So those American bulldog puppies we had about 4 weeks ago, we got them back for like 5 hours and had them go to different fosters since we were going out of town and we REALLY didn't want to take care of SIX puppies and a MOM. 5 were enough for one summer.

Just a little updated picture of Milhouse and Bart.

That next weekend I went to Wyoming with some of my family to run the Star Valley half marathon. It was a hard but awesome run, since it was in a little town and all the profit went to them, all the townspeople sat outside their house and cheered for us with posters, air horns, ukelele, and squirt bottles. It seemed like everyone knew each other, it was a great experience and I wouldn't mind doing that one again.

Before the race

Everyone before the race

As most know, this was Rush's first trip in the motorhome with us, and he handled it like a champ. Only a couple accidents (once a day...) but he tried to let us know when he needed to go out. I believe he loved it, there were three other dogs with us -- Peachy, Marlene, and Rufus.

On our way to Wyoming

Rush gets to smell and the wonderful things in Wyoming.

Week Over

Ok, ok, I know every post is LITERALLY about puppies/dogs, but this is everything exciting in my life right now. In the next couple weeks I will have done a 5k, go to Wyoming to do a 1/2 Marathon, and go hiking/lake. This past week has been hectic and depressing, we gave our foster pups to their new family (not depressing),  Rufus (Kristy's dog) broke is poor little leg, and Kirby (16) was put down.
Rufus, broke his leg this past week, right in the growth plate. So he's got a cute little green cast on for a while (6 weeks?). Anyways, he went outside and Kristy thought maybe he wouldn't run off that far since it has been like 100 degrees this past week, but Marlene ran off and Rufus followed and somehow ended up with the horses across the street from our house. He went and barked once at the horses, the horses started running towards him and he started running away. He wasn't fast enough and five horses trampled him. Kristy heard him crying and a cloud of dirt and she ran in the middle of FIVE horses and grabbed him, they stopped, and she started walking away. The horses started coming towards her and Marlene (dog found in the desert) went desert survival demon on those horses and got in between Kristy and them. The horses stopped and all was well except for Rufus being in shock and a broken ankle.

This is one LUCKY dog, he survived five horses with only a sliver in his growth plate. He is definitely here for a reason.

As for our fosters new homes, we got updates from their families on how they're doing! All of them are doing wonderfully, and their families absolutely ADORE them! <3. Samus's name got changed to Rogan, Zelda is River, and Knuckles is still Knuckles.

Update from Cassidi on Samus (now Rogan) -- "She is such a fantastic puppy! She's so smart and cuddly she hasn't had an accident since we've brought her home and she sleeps all the way through the night. We love her so much already and a lot of our friends and family always ask where we got her because they want one of her siblings :) thank you so much for her :)"

"Daisy (dog on right) and Rogan have to be by each other to fall asleep, we have a family that all have dogs so she has a lot of friends and next weekend we are taking her to bear lake to our cabin to play in the water. :)"

Update on Zelda/River -- She hasn't had any accidents in the house in over a day, and her and Juno are liking each other more and more!

Knuckles - "He is doing great! Gets along with our other dog and Tess loves him. It could not be better! (picture above) This is him and our other dog. They have taken over our bed! :)"

Rush and Boomer are new sleeping in a crate in our room, and it's working out good, till about 5 am when Boomer whines and barks to get out. Other than that, they are little angels in the crate, and look comfortable too.

They enjoy being down in the basement most of the day since it's so cool down there from the air conditioner. Since now we have our little family room where we can watch tv and whatnot.

Boomer, Scott, and Rush watching some soccer.

Rush has already become the guard dog of the house, we went out for him to go to the bathroom and he just sat there straight looking around making sure nothing was on our property.  Rush is now weighing 12.5 pounds, he gained to pounds within a week. Geez, he's getting big. I got him a new toy today and when I brought it home and gave it to him he took it straight up onto the couch and fell asleep.

New toys rock.

After having a hard emotional week; there is nothing better than to have three dogs sleeping all up against you while you're taking a nap. One of the best feelings.

Peach, Boomer, Rush cuddling against me.

As for my husband, Scott, he's finished one of his summer classes and now only has one summer class till the middle of August, then a week break and Fall semester begins! He's doing really well in school and has an interview on Wednesday. I'm going to go with him so afterwards we can go to Fiesta Ole in Kearns. Mmmmm.
