Dirty Dashing & Ripreza 5k

This past weekend my whole family (minus brother & sister-in-law, nieces&nephew) did the Dirty Dash over at Soldier Hollow, I love that race you get so incredibly muddy without even trying. We've done the Kiss Me Dirty 5k a couple years and you just got the watery muddy, although there WAS a foam pit at the very end, and only females could run that. Anyways, the Dirty Dash is one of my favorite races of the year, although I would rather do the 10k next year. We've just been running the 5k and this year I don't think the 5k obstacles were that great compared to the 10k.

Dirty Dash 2013

When you first start there are a TON of people, even if they do it in heats of however many. So basically you walk the first 15-20 min, unless you care enough to sprint in front of them HOWEVER you run up this big muddy hill, by muddy I mean they have this giant hose spraying it down at all times and everyone is sliding into each other.

Climbed up that muddy pit.

AND THEN THERE WAS THIS

MY MOTHER CONQUERED THAT OBSTACLE.

She had been working hard on being able to lift her body weight for these types of things, and she DID it.

So we did that last weekend, and THIS weekend we had another 5k. We did the Ripreza 5k Run for Recovery, we have done that last year and really enjoyed it! It's a great 5k, not many people run it and it's for a great cause. I highly suggest it for you beginner runners out there, I got my best time at the 5k (26.28) which I guess isn't THAT great for some of you, but for me, I'm proud I did it. Also, at the end they have a crazy drawing that has awesome things. Like, I got called and got a $50 gas card, which is nice since Scott just started driving to Orem everyday for work. I thought he'd owe me for winning that gift card, but RIGHT after I got that gas card his name was called for a cute small winter jacket that fit me perfectly. All in all, it is one of my favorite 5k's that I've done.

I am also really excited for some upcoming races I am signed up for, I'm doing the Pink 1/2 Marathon this October with my wonderful mother in Park City. Only ladies can run this, and it may be quite chilly in October but I think it'll be a great run. Also, the Thanksgiving 5k ON thanksgiving, I did that one last year and it was hard and cold but at the end you get some pumpkin pie!

In other news, Marianne and Gilligan were adopted today at the Rescue Rovers event at the Hogle Zoo! I'm excited for their new journey with their new furever homes, getting all the attention they deserve.

Terrier

So Scott has a paid intern job for this month, he is back at Enspark. It's not quite what he wants to do, but it's a job. It also goes great with his school schedules, being able to come in any time he can. We also just found out that he may be graduated Spring of 2015, since he won't be able to do his first Senior project until next fall (2 needed) BUT, he may be able to do his first project this next summer. Then the second one next fall, except he would still have to graduate Spring of 2015, he just wouldn't have any classes that whole semester.

We have two new fosters for a couple weeks, Marianne and Gilligan. They are a small 4 month old terrier mix, and have such great personalities. They will get adopted SO fast, they have been such easy fosters that as soon as we're done with them we won't be bringing any more fosters in for a while (till next spring??). Instead I will be taking pictures of other peoples fosters to contribute to the Rescue Rovers.

TWO YEARS

This past week was mine and Scott's second anniversary, crazy how two years go by so fast, yet, a 4 month engagement is the longest time of your life. It has been a great two years and I'm excited for what's to come. We celebrated by going to Smashburger for lunch, I got a Groupon so it was much more worth it. Though, the hamburger wasn't quite as good as I remembered, but still good. We also stayed up that night and watched Les Miserables together. Such a great movie.

So, now that I don't have to watch Storm anymore since my parents finally got back from vacationing for a month. I've been able to take Rush for a walk everyday, also, Rush knows the schedule with sleeping in till 7.

"Why yes, yes I am a good boy."

Rush and Storm have become such best friends these last couple weeks, they play for hours everyday and wear each other out so now they go to bed at 8 pm every night. Speaking of which, Peach has a favorite toy which is her froggy she hides it and then gets it when she is ready for bedtime. Rush, likes to squeak the toys especially her toys, but her froggy squeaker was broken, so he tries so hard to find it and almost swallows it. The other day Peaches frog just disappeared, and as I was sitting in my room I look over and Rush was licking the little toy frog. I went over to pick it up and it was SOAKING wet, I smelled it and it had one of the worst smells I've ever smelt. He had just thrown up the frog that had been in his stomach a couple days. All I can say is I'm so happy he threw it up and we didn't have to take him to the vet eventually, so now we have to keep a even closer eye on him... We can't just take away Peaches favorite toy, so we somehow have to train him to not TOUCH those toys.

Yesterday I went to Sensuous Sandwich with my mother and mother-in-law, I hadn't been there in quite a few years. The one thing I liked about it was that it had all the different sizes of sandwiches, not just the generic sizes. I also got to design a couple of wedding announcements for Jessica and Joshua's wedding coming up in a month (crazy). Also, CONGRATS to Lydia for have her 7 1/2 pound baby girl this past week!! Now we can send each other pictures of our babies, heh. Speaking of which, I am THAT person that takes portraits of my dog EVERYWHERE. He is so darn cute, I can't help myself. He is just the happiest little guy, always has a smile on his face and it's impossible for me to be sad around him.

Cute

PS, I LOVE YOU SCOTT!
