A Lot of February

The past couple of weeks my mother and I decided we'd start spin class at the Provo Recreation Center, as some know I got an early birthday present this year (6 months early to be exact) My mom was tired of me riding her road bike all the time so for an early birthday present I got a road bike for myself and it fits me perfectly and is awesome! I tried out a road bike for the first time last year and enjoyed it much more than a mountain bike (who would have guessed...) I did a Tri last August and have one coming up at the end of March (Ice Breaker Triathlon)

Also in September we are planning our big 100 mile bike race, boy am I dreading it but it will be worth it to say I biked 100 miles! Anyways, so my mother and I are doing spin classes once a week and they HURT, we are starting to swim afterwards too.

Valentines was this past week, Scott and I celebrated Valentines day 2 days early by going to Magelbys in Springville. It was pretty empty that night, we had gotten their chocolate cake since I've heard so much positive feed back about it... DELICIOUS. Then on Valentines day we went to Costa Vida, apparently that's the place if you have your kids on Valentines day that's the nice place to go, still, not too busy though. We did take some family pictures for Valentines day though!

Valentines 2014
Now this picture right here was possibly the most frustrating moment I had with my dog, EVER. He is usually super good and photogenic but this day we would set the camera up, I would go take my spot, and he would just plop down on his side (like above image). Though in this one he is actually looking at the camera and you can't see any special parts very well. This is the one I have hanging up in our room blown up... It kind of makes me laugh now.

That weekend we had the Hot Chocolate Dash 5k that I was able to run with Scott and my family! Unfortunately no dogs with in reality was quite nice for me, you started at Riverwoods in Provo and just ran through a park and under the bridge before entering Provo Canyon. For this 5k instead of getting a shirt you got a beanie which was nice for how cold it was that day, oh and some hot chocolate at the end (hint the name).

Before the 5k
After
Scott and I

Eric was there too.

So there's that.

One last super awesome thing I did this past week, I hiked the Y with my dog Rushbo!! That is such a hard for him going up but he did it and at the top laid down for about 5 minutes. My parents came with me and brought Storm and Peach. It takes about an hour to do the hike (walking slowly) and its about 2 1/2 miles from the bottom all the way to the top and back. Rush liked it I think, he was in bed by 7 pm and woke up at 7:30 am.

Hiking up!

Rushbo did it!

bout time to go home.

If you enjoy my cheesy pet photography I took some pictures of Rush and Storm on Valentines day... enjoy

Hale Freezes Over 5k

OK, let's start out with how awesome Rush did on his second 5k EVER. As some may know, when I walk/run with Rush I can get quite frustrated with him since he'd rather walk in the snow and smell things... he's a scenery walk kind of dog. He's always dragging behind me...

What NINE month old puppy does that?!

Mine.

I literally cannot say "no" to this face.

That was our hike up the canyon earlier this week, quite the work-out 1 1/2 miles up hill!

Anyways, so this week we did 3 mile walk up and back in the canyon, a 3 mile run, another 2 mile walk up the canyon, 1 mile walk, and a easy 2 mile walk yesterday. So it was quite a busy week with him and today we ran the 5k. As some know, Rush is a shy dog and is scared of most people and prefer to stay away from them, but today we went to the "Hale Freezes Over 5k" and Rush stayed right beside me while I did packet pick-up. We were standing there and we are surrounded by people at these events and some people will just come up and pet your dog without even thinking -

"Oh hey, this big black dog may possibly bite me"

Every time my heart stopped a little since he'd jump when he realized he had no clue who they were AND THEN they'd start petting him by his face! He did so good he just started licking their hand! He did so incredible from the last 5k in November that we did where the kids asked to pet him and he wouldn't even get near them. Or he'll start doing that little sneeze thing to make them turn around.

So we go to the starting line and wait 10 minutes before the race starts and as soon as it started Rush just took off wanting to run with all the people! He was absolutely loving every second of it, until we hit about 1/2 mile and he stopped in the middle of the street to take a HUGE dump in front of everyone... Don't worry, I had a poop bag. Right after he did his business he took off again with his tongue flailing side to side with slobber pouring out to about 2 miles! We stopped at a water station and I gave my water to Rush and the volunteers just watched with a big smile one their face saying "Such a cute puppy!" We started running again and got to a huge hill and ran not even a quarter up it and I guess he decided he was too tired to run anymore (I told him not to start out too fast). Looked behind him and saw my mom with Storm behind us and just stopped and waited for them. We walked up the hill and he had a hard time running the rest of the way, he was exhausted!

He finished though!

He also got a best time, 35 minutes!

Nice work Rushbo!!
